Iran was quite literally at the negotiating table and has shown great capacity for diplomacy. Iran has also shown great restraint following multiple violations of its sovereignty under international law over the years by Israel. With a recent Pew Research survey showing 74% of Australians have a negative view of Israel, Wong and the entire Labor administration once again fail to represent the people of Australia by blindly supporting the greatest violators of international law and morality (Israel and the USA).

Once again George, Very well said.

I'm uncertain whether this is a law of physics, or some other law I misrembered, but I know it is a fact that tails don't wag dogs. Israel is doing America's bidding in West Asia and the yanks could stop it in a minute simply by turning off the weaponry consignments and funding of Israel.

In 2007 retired US General Wesley Clarke stated publicly that prior to the 2003 US invasion of Iraq, he had seen Whitehouse plans to overthrow the governments of 7 countries in 5 years.

The lucky countries were Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Iran.

I read on Substack yesterday

They LIED about Libya.

They LIED about Syria.

They LIED about Iraq.

They are LYING about Iran

Penny Wong is a propagandist justifying Australian involvement in the US directed war in West Asia.

In 1997 Zbigniew Brzezinski, in his book "The Grand Chessboard" wrote about the maintenance of US hegemony and stated that for the US to permit an alliance between Russia, China and a nation in West Asia, ie Iran, would be a big mistake. Those recent alliances were encouraged by US behaviour. The attack on Iran is all part of the Grand Chessgame and Penny Wong, rather than seeking an arrangement more beneficial to the Australian Nation and its people is acting as a sales person for the USA.

At the UN, Australia is a member of the Western European and Others Group (WEOG) the others in this group, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the USA all have colonial ties to western European nations. They vote as a block and protect the status of settler colonies and former settler colonies, resisting post-colonial perspectives.

Canada and Australia in particular, take turns at voting against the rights of the Palestinian people, such as the right to the peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine, or the sovereignty of the Palestinian people over the resources of the OPT.

Penny Wong makes noises about internation law and rules based order, support of human rights etc, but justifies the Israeli attack on Iran with a LIE. She nearly wept in public after the disgusting murder of Israelis at a function in Washington, while saying nothing meaningful about the daily slaughter in Gaza for twenty months, or the deaths by starvation now prevalent in Gaza.

Here's a novel Idea, how about Australia develops friendly relationships with all the nations in our region, especially our major trading partners, and have our representatives in foreign affairs go in to bat for nations like Venezuela, Cuba, Chile, Congo, when the yanks want to steal their resources.

More peace, less power to the millitary industrial complex that is making a motza from continuous American wars. The likes of Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, Boeing, and General Dynamics have made vast profits from the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, that's why they continue.

Penny Wong needs to represent the people of Australia on the international stage, not warmongers and those profiting from wars.

Nothing new or true blue about Wong. Labour have been US lackeys like the rest since Whitlam’s fall. ‘Bob’ was all the way with CIA and, as I remember it, liked to shed croc tears for Israel on telly. The disgraceful and disgusting Keating sold his mother for a shekle.

Wong's response is both disappointing and indicative of profound ignorance. Iran clearly does not have nuclear weapons: end of discussion. Thus, Israel's "strategic objectives" are based on pure fallacy.

Doesn't this ring familiar, or is Wong completely unaware of recent history? In 2003, the US invaded Iraq because of Saddam Hussein's "weapons of mass destruction" (also nonexistent: end of discussion). A June 2006 piece in THE LANCET suggested a death toll of 655,000 since the invasion; the CodePink: Women for Peace group presented a figure of 2.4 million by March 2018 [cf. https://www.codepink.org/the_iraq_death_toll_15_years_after_the_us_invasion]. How many must die -- on both sides, but far more Iranians -- because of the chimerical threat to Israeli security. [The Zionist state fights for its "security," even as the Roman Empire claimed to fight only "defensive wars" as they gobbled up more and more territory.]

I suggest that Wong figure out what Israeli-US policy is, how ruthless the two nations are, and how brazenly both lie. Her moral lapses are unconscionable.

It implies that only Lefties are sane, however Covid destroyed the Left.

The only reason why N isn’t incarcerated for his corruption is because of what happened on Okt 7 - That’s what’s keeping him from his corruption trial however now he’s committed even more crimes.

His political career is we can call it that only just survived a vote by the Knesset, shame about that so they must have something on them too.

Either way, a week is a long time in politics and word is that the Israeli’s won’t be able to keep this up for much longer as their air defense system is terribly expensive to run which means they’ll be broke very soon while the Iranians will be able to keep this up for quite some time to come.

Great write-up.

Good to see that you are finally seeing the light. I vaguely recall having a discussion with you about Henny Penny Wrong and Australia's position on Palestine. The fact that she voted against (or abstained) the establishment of the Palestinian state and then a few weeks later, when it didn't count, suggested that perhaps it should be.

Australia has rarely been a sovereign country. That is why the head of state is from a different one.

Australia is a white supremacist genocidal settler colony. It has no moral fortitude and we simply exist for rapid asset accumulation - much like the colony in Palestine.

Of course, the colonials and their colonies are going to stick together - the empire is desperate and in decay. At the G7 the script on Iran was handed out and so we had that Nazi in Germany blurt out some drivel and now genocider Henny Penny Wrong did the same. This is a government that apparently did the analysis on the occupation and genocide in Palestine and came to the conclusion that the right answer was to sanction 2 maniacs in the Zionist colony, who wouldn't even know where Australia was on a map, let alone want to come here! Even that was only because the were instructed to by the Brits and Canadians.

As the number of non-white migrants increase the supremacists feel more and more threatened and we see that reflected in the political stage where both parties have moved further right. So-much-so that one's tipped off the edge of the scale.

Australia needs a third party, not merely representing migrants but consisting of them - this is what I am working on. The current parties do not represent the values of coloured migrants most of whom come from great civilisations - not the barbaric West.

"Why must Iran always be the one to de-escalate? Why is Israel never called upon to stop its assassinations, bombings, and open defiance of international norms?"

Indeed. (Given the hypocrisy of most 'leaders' and their political colleagues virtually the World over, probably never.)

Yet again, you tell it as it is, George. I have long considered Penny Wong one of the more intelligent, rational and insightful politicians in our parliament. I am surprised to hear her speak this way. Unless she is caught between a rock and a hard place by being required to fall in line with Albanese and others in Cabinet, then I cannot explain it and will have to modify my view of her.

This ALP government could never be anywhere close to as bad as any LNP one but it is a disappointment. Hearing Albanese speak of maintaining the appalling AUKUS agreement with some delight is betrayal of most who voted for Labor and all who were appalled by the snubbing of the French.

That an ALP government will continue with a $380 Billion arrangement with Britain and the USA and, essentially, sacrifice Australia's independence to the USA, currently under the management of an insane psychopath, is beyond the pale indeed. Even worse is that the likely cost will be twice that $380 Billion if any submarine is ever delivered and there is even greater chance that it will never materialise and Australia will be left with a significant gap in its defence.

Even if the submarine does eventuate, the fact is that it as planned it is about 3 times the size of our current class Collins submarines, will lack appropriate agility and will be unable to navigate many of the waterways among islands in our region because of its draft.

So, just as the Collins class submarine was a flop because it made more noise than a Saturday night disco, the nuclear silent red herring will be very quiet but not able to go where we need it to go.

The fact is that it is a farcical pretence that we are able to defend ourselves against any nation likely to attack us. We would be far better off in pursuing a neutral stance as do the Swiss and spending our hard earned on building friendships and righting wrongs both within our nation and in others. $380 Billion would go a long way towards ridding our nation of homelessness, poverty, ageing infrastructure, many appallingly poor highways, unmaintained schools and such, as well as funding more teachers, doctors, psychologists and other skilled needs.

Why don't we invest in peace rather than armed conflict?

Why doesn't the World invest in peace rather than armed conflict?

Why is it that after 200,000 to 300,000 years of modern humans, we can split the atom, land human beings on the moon, have humans live in space, transplant organs, prevent many diseases, communicate with one another virtually instantly from almost anywhere to almost anywhere else on the planet and so much more, yet we still haven't worked out how to get along with one another?

In 2022 on X (aka Twitter), Wong wrote "Madeleine Albright was a true trailblazer, a champion of freedom and justice...and 'an inspiration'." This was the same Secretary of State that defended the devastating sanctions against Iraq, including by Australia. When Albright was asked in 1996 on CBS’s 60 Minutes about the half a million Iraqi children who died as a result replied, "I think this is a very hard choice, but the price – we think the price is worth it." An inspiration, indeed.

IsRealHell

*(after the spirit of Azâzêl)*

I.

Not sulfur, nor the serpent’s hiss—

but *silence* carved the first abyss.

We fell not through celestial fire,

but through the weight of *God’s own ire*:

a breath that stripped our wings to bone,

and cast us into *earth alone*.

II.

You ask if Hell is real? Behold:

the marketplace of lies you’ve sold—

the wars you wage for nameless sand,

the children buried where they stand.

*This* is the Hell we helped you build:

a world where every grave is filled

with promises you broke like bread,

and worshipped Progress, blind and red.

III.

Azâzêl knows—he taught the cost:

all *knowledge* gained is Eden lost.

He watches from the fractured deep,

where human angels *pretend* to sleep,

while chains they forged with their own hands

tighten across the bleeding lands.

No Devil waits beneath the stone—

your Hell is *always* **homegrown**.

IV.

So burn your flags, your coins, your creeds.

The only Hell that ever bleeds

is one you choose to walk within:

the prison built to hold your sin.

*IsRealHell?* Child, lift your eyes—

**it lives in every human cry**

*unanswered* by a silent sky.
