excellent read George. I hope Dutton doesn't get traction.

Well-written article George analyzes well, and you made a good point, and that is how disinformation works in favor of Russia. After all, they mastered that discipline, and yet it caused panic. Russia doesn't need bases in foreign countries because this is not part of their doctrine; however, their presence in Kaliningrad and the Kuril Islands in Japan and Syria shows why Russia doesn't need multiple foreign bases. Add to this Russia's nuclear submarines operating in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, satellites, and missiles.no need for airbase in Indonesia.

This reeks of LNP desperation as poll after poll shows their chances of winning sinking almost as fast as global respect for Donald Trump. DOGEY Dutton himself is clinging on to his seat by a thread and stands a good chance of losing it and being thrown of parliament altogether. Fearmongering is the only playbook these right-wing knuckleheads know. They have no real policy, no principles and no conviction. Everything they say is just a ploy to win power and privilege.

What plausible benefit would Russia gain in basing aircraft in Indonesia? It is completely out of their zone of interest and well within the power projection radius of their ally China. Russia’s military is stretched and focussed on Ukraine, the Baltic, and the Arctic.

Even if this absurd scenario had a shred of truth, what influence would the Australian government have in preventing it? This is really nothing more than yet another example of clutching at straws to try to claw back Albanese’s lead, just like Dutton’s hyperventilating over a Chinese research vessel sailing home in international waters near Australia which it has every right to do, aka exercising freedom of navigation under UNCLOS. What would Dutton do about it if here in power (heaven forbid)?

Thank you for a sound and rational appraisal of this rumour and of its use by some, particularly Dutton and the right-wing to use it to feed populism that plays into their hands, just as it did for Trump in the USA.

Frankly, I am sorely sick of seeing Dutton speaking via the ABC News service particularly. Yes, I know that the ABC charter requires balance and so, unfortunately, they have to show him, as he's 'leader' of the opposition', though what leadership he's shown I'm yet to discern. However, 'balance' should be interpreted as to give equal weight to lies, hypocrisy, fear mongering, false statistical statements or half-truths so skewed as to be worthless. The ABC and other mainstream news services ought to improve their journalistic efforts and give an accurate assessment of how close or far what is said actually is to reality.

Those that actually support Dutton and his appalling intention to build 7 nuclear reactors, rather than encouraging the development of environmentally sound energy sources, have to be either very indoctrinated; very callous; live far away from any of the already decided, (without consultation) locations for the reactors; be so uniformed that they've never heard about Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, Fukushima or any of the other around 100 nuclear plant 'accidents', (i.e. more than $50,000 worth of damage to property and/or deaths), since 1952.

I wonder how many of those Dutton idiocy supporters are willing to have a nuclear reactor in their back yard?

Fear is the tool of the tyrant, there's always something that needs to be feared in order to maintain and justify their fact free narrative aka the corporate agenda.

Anyone who disagrees is automatically deemed to be unpatriotic while they themselves do not back up their claims with common sense and logic.

It's a racket designed to divert public funds away from social infrastructure.

projects.

Look out for anyone trying to justify increasing the already overblown offence urm defense budget ....AUKUS?

Just stating the obvious, what were not discussing are the reasons why all this is happening, but that's another story.

Now I'm going to see how the penguins are doing today.

Yes I believed it to be sensationalist crap from the politicians and media trying to stir a pot that has already boiled dry and is burned on the bottom... but maybe they are so engrossed with their own personal glow they cannot see a fire about to start... and it’s not from the direction they poured fuel over and are handing out matches for us to light... that’s all I can say
