The values that BRICS presents are the values that most people share everywhere in the world.

We need to build an ark and get the hell out of the rapidly darkening west. Would a BRICS country take us, I wonder...

BRICS is no different from Non_BRICS, when we see (and understand) the role of energy and all its corresponding technology, wealth and economy. One must be very wary of every regime, regardless if its Russian, American, Chinese, X, Y, Z all of them who believe in infinite growth, energy, extraction, expansion, production and consumption on a finite planet. Less we forgot, Narendra Modi is also responsible for Genocide of Muslims (2003). India is also #2 military client of USA. By all means, this is another confederacy of violent regimes, much like their counterparts in the West.

Yes. In recognizing the warmongering lies of the US as it demonizes Russia and China in an obvious buildup to war, we can easily grasp uncritically at BRICS. We’re desperate for a savior, an answer, a utopia, an alternative to the hellscape we see in the future of the West. We need to be circumspect.

The hubris and greed of the US-led Western empire will ultimately be it's own undoing....and the dangerous thing is they're aggressively and violently resisting it, rather than cooperating with the other emerging superpowers.

Until the post-War (WW2) period, the pound sterling was the primary reserve currency. The pound was soon eclipsed by the petro-dollar, and where is the UK today as an economic super-power? SImilarly, if the petro-dollar collapses, and if the dollar ceases to be the world's primary reserve currency, the Empire will indeed have fallen.

That said, before we begin to cheer too strenuously, let us take a long, careful look at the nations within BRICs. Brazil is only months removed from the horrors of Bolsonaro, who may yet return to power. India has a criminal regime led by a criminal (Modi) who is in bed with Netanyahu (remember him?). Russia's Putin has an interesting concept of democracy: imprison, poison, and/or otherwise remove political foes. The Chinese are no better than any of the above, and their intentions toward Taiwan, Indonesia, the Philippines, and even Japan are only a few steps removed from "bellicose."

I have legitimate fears that Trump will seize power early next year. However, I do not see any utopia in the four nations listed.
