I don't buy it. Trump is just trying to make himself look better. He has something nefarious up his sleeve.

w/ certitude, susan t. trump is sufficiently mercurial and prone to duplicitous subreptions, one would have to be a hopeless pollyanna to expect this chronically bankrupt-declaring casino operator to manoeuvre through a straight line toward an honourable goal. supervenience, i.e. the unexpected, is trump's 'trump card'. it is his go-to modus operandi, as well as his modus vivendi.

Hi Susan. I don't trust any of them.

Yes - tend to agree. Trump needs to stop the endless supply of lethal weapons from US before I’ll have real hope. The world’s so far silent mainstream press is now at long last calling this for what it is - a genocide - shameful it’s taken so long, but better late than never - so maybe someone in his administration is reading the papers…..

and... here goes my theory.

All a show ... "to force" LOL.... Bibi to back off a little and open the border crossing to Egypt ... official reason = to let aid in, Unofficial and real = to both let and push the Palestinians out into Egypt... WHERE ?:

PS Walled with Israel ?, Palestinians forced now to the Southern border.

We can but hope. It seems a stretch to think it is part of a great game of let's pretend Trump is dumping Israel, but while many things are unlikely, nothing is impossible.

Abandon their franchise? Not gonna happen. Too much 💵running on that baby. There are condos to build.

Mrs. Adelson’s check has already been cashed.

Jared’s got bids on sites. Genocide Country Club Estates or is it The Zionist Luxury Enclave?

Roslyn Ross's avatar

Mrs Adelson's cheque may have been cashed but it can also bounce. Jared has bids on a lot of things but it does not mean it will happen.

But I understand what you are saying and yes, the chances of Trump standing up for Americans and against Israel is not great, but it is possible.

Atlas Did's avatar

Not gonna happen. Why would he do it? All you have to do is follow his trajectory since the 80’s. Yes, the 80’s. When has he done anything that is not directly for his own benefit?

Jared got his $2b already. Who knows what he sold to get it.

The Palestinian people will be pushed from Gaza & the West Bank.

The West will carry the guilt forever.

The condos are coming.

And the Adelson check has long been cashed.

None of this has occurred in a vacuum.

Thank Biden for financing & completely supporting the Genocide.

All this is just a continuation of the process already in motion. If that wasn’t the case where exactly is the opposition coming from? Not the Democrats. Not the West. Not the way too late lukewarm outrage of the corporate media.

How do you push between 1.5 and 1.8 million people, nearly half of them children into anywhere and get away with it? The world hates Israel as it is and so do most Americans now and a majority of young American Jews.

And that hatred is rapidly growing and intensifying

Expand full comment
Roslyn Ross's avatar

You may be right but world outrage is now so great, including most Americans and a majority of young American Jews that the physical reality of removing between 1.5 or 1.8 million from Gaza and then another 4 million from the rest of Occupied Palestine would appear to be beyond even the ability of the Killraelis.

How does one either exterminate or expel 6 million people, and one presumes, then moves on to do the same with the 2 million living in what is called Israel? Trucks, trains, gas ovens, guns????? They cannot drop the bombs in what they call the West Bank because they might hurt some of those illegal Jewish colonists.

And no, I do not believe the condos are coming. There are 19 million Palestinians in the world, half in the Diaspora, and even if Israel could move out 6 million in Occupied Palestine it would not end the Resistance.

Israel is trivial in the world and sanctions and boycotts could close it down in a week. There may be too much the world allows when it comes to genocide, but there is also a point where enough is enough and countries begin to take a stand.

The US is in decline so it is not as if it wields any real power, even over its allies and if everyone who knows Mossad has the goods on them decides to say stuff it, Game Over.

Unfortunately I am not as optimistic as you are. Israel is not just a “country”, but a project, a start up franchise for the West. From Microsoft to Apple to Mera to Palantir, Silicon Valley is intertwined with 🇮🇱’s lot. All have a presence in the enclave. No one’s bailing on them.

I agree most Americans are finally waking up to the fact that the Genocidal regime’s been murdering Palestinians for 2 years. But 🇮🇱has a lot of $ invested to just be abandoned. Then there’s AIPAC which literally has the US government as lackeys. I absolutely agree the resistance is not going to just give up. But the West has all but abandoned the Palestinians. It’s shameful. It’s criminal. And the Genocide’s not stopping.

Soooo...after funding the holocaust of Palestine supported 100% by our hard earned tax $ and military, he's had a change of heart? A little late? A mass murderer saying " I'm sorry. I didn't mean it. I'm really a good guy with a conscience." Don't buy it...unless cows can fly. Leopards don't change spots. Nothing lessens his Nuremberg level crimes. So he is now going to rebuild what our bombs destroyed and feed the survivors of his holocaust? Yeah. Right.

Don't read too much into this. Trump is a weak leader who should have cracked the whip on Netanyahoo long ago. Under the circumstances for him to go anywhere near Israel he would be seen as endorsing the genocide which would further discredit him on the world stage and especially in the ME. His presidency is in free fall as his braggadocio bravado has revealed who he really is-- a fraudster and huckster. He thought he could bully the world and now the backlash leaves him totally discredited. Until the US repudiates war its decline only accelerates. Saving and restoring the Republic must be his first priority.

You seem to think the President of the United States has the final say in these matters. He does not.

The oligarchy does.

Big Oil and the MIC have determined that Israel is now a liability for them, and instructed Trump to either rein those crazy bastards in or, well, cut off aid if he has to. That's why the legacy media narrative has shifted in recent days to admitting a genocide is happening and saying maybe it should stop.

They, and Trump, are following instructions. Neither has all that much free will on this stuff.

gracious gratitude to you, feral, as well as jasmine, bob-enough, heather, and darkstar for taking the time and effort to pop into the comments section of the inimitable george hazim's supernal article. were it not for writers like hazim, we palestinian advocates would be bereft; we would lose what sanguinity we have remaining. he is a cratonic fountainhead of support for palestinians who have been for decades the victims of US/UK/zioisraeli ethnic cleansing, random slaughters, broad-spectrum bombings, targeted drone attacks, sniper bullets, village raids, bulldozings, fiery conflagrations, starvation, pandemic diseases, cultural obliterations, brutal colonialism... the inventory is brain-boggling. hazim and his consociates are helping to ensure that the ever-beleaguered palestinians are not also the victims of silence.

Give it a couple of days. Trump's handlers will scurry around behind the scenes, some flattering words spoken, Trump will go back to being a good little boy again. The only question now is whether the War On Russia or the War On Iran will take priority for now.

Have you learned nothing from the Zelenskii brouhaha?

Netanyahu has carried on with his "The Americans are under my spell". Sometimes it becomes a step too far; he wants to bring America into a war with Iran, that would mean American lives which I think has caused a stir none of us are aware of, yet. He has used America as fools and that never lasts forever, there is always a point that will not be crossed, and Netanyahu in his total egotistical belief that he owns the US, that he has pointed out several times, may have just crossed the line.

Dear God, I do hope do 🙏

Don't forget that the Trump administration is seeking ways to expand its powers domestically. Trump may want to create or escalate a global diplomatic crisis (with Israel) as cover for domestic consolidation of power. With such a narcissist at the helm, always begin with "what's in it for him, personally or politically?" He wants to be king of America, and Israel may be the ticket he is going to punch to get there.

The whole point of Israel was to form a bulwark against the Arab countries (the barbarians with oil). If Trump makes true friends (aka business partners) with them instead there is no need for Israel. The USA has dumped ‘trusted allies’ without a second glance in the past…
