Well said. The shitraelis and their evil supporters, many of whom call themselves Christians will be doing everything they can to ensure the silence of the next Pope on the genocide in Palestine.

if not, roslyn, it will confirm, full-stop, that the catholic church, and most other ecclesiastical bastions for that matter, have lost their relevancy, as demonstrably as they have abandoned their courage and their moral compasses.

thank you george hazim for your own moral courage, eloquence, integrity, and fearless commitment to speaking for the powerless... the palestinians in general and the gazans in particular. pope francis proved himself a tartuffe, no matter how many 'feet he kissed', both literally and metaphorically, whether in papal cyclicals or for 'show'.

Totally agree. If a religion which preaches compassion, tolerance, care for others, loving enemies, kindness and love for all cannot or does not take a powerful stand against the evil of the Israeli State and its atrocities then it has no relevance.

George, on Christmas Eve last year I wrote the Pope to urge him to undertake a Pastoral visit to Gaza, and like you, I'm disappointed he didn't. In the occasional Messages I write to the Pope, I use the working Vatican email addresses below in the hope one of them may get the Message to him? The last 2 addresses are to the Pope's Apostolic Nuncio (Ambassador) in CanaDa and France.

TWEET TO ISRAEL'S Amichai Chikli

Dear Francis, my Brother in Christ,

Israel’s Amichai Chikli of The Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism, wrote to you December 21 to remind you of the Vatican’s Holocaust history and stating, “Jesus was born, lived, and died as a Jew.”

He criticized you for attending a display depicting Jesus as a Palestinian Arab with a keffiyeh and accusing you of trivializing the term “genocide” in a way that borders on Holocaust denial, after you called for an investigation into Israel’s response to Hamas after October 7.

Israel wants the US West MSM to cover October 7 as the Beginning of Jewish-Palestinian History, ignoring all that came before it.

The Minister's tweet moved me to reply with this; Yes, Jesus the Christ was 100% Jewish, and speaking to Jews before Christians came to be, said 'You hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draws close to me with their mouth, and honours me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. In vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.' Obviously, those words are not addressed to those who don't believe in Christ Jesus the Jew, but to those who think they do.

'West Bank mosque set alight, vandalized in apparent settler assault' Muslim house of worship in town of Marda burned overnight, spray-painted with ‘revenge’ graffiti; police and Shin bet say they opened investigations, though no arrests yet - and most likely there will be no arrests. Israeli settlers in the illegally OCCUPIED West Bank are the latest incarnation of Hitler's Brown Shirts, born again in Jewish settlers terrorizing Palestinians to leave with Israel's current efforts at ethnic cleansing since an Old Testament Jewish Religious Establishment became the base of Netanyahu's government in January 2023.

To cement your Legacy, I strongly urge you to go to Gaza in person before it is too late. To identify with the oppressed People of Gaza in accordance with the Mission of Christ Jesus the Jew, who says, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord, this Jubilee Year.

With Peace and Blessing,

He will not be remembered as a pope who stood for what he preached, but he will be remembered as someone who was driven by self-interests. Pope John Paul II was the only true pope who stood for humanity; hence, the KGB wanted to assassinate him in 1981.

"Earlier this year, CAIR commended Pope Francis for denouncing the Israeli government’s war crimes in Gaza after he released a speech calling the humanitarian crisis in Gaza created by Israel “very serious and shameful.”

"CAIR previously welcomed a statement by Pope Francis condemning the “cruelty” of Israel’s genocide in Gaza and a call by the Pope for an investigation to determine whether Israel has committed “genocide” in Gaza.

That doesn't sound equivocal to me.

I believe he would have gone to Gaza if his health had allowed it. Instead he phoned Gaza every single night. He wasn't perfect, not by a long shot, but he was better than any other pope in my lifetime, which, granted, isn't saying much.

Thank you, Val. I don’t know how anyone can criticize him after all he managed to do in such a short time at his age and against so much opposition. Has any of us done a tiny fraction as much?

I was thinking that exact thing. I wonder if people realize how huge it is that he lay baby Jesus in the manger in a keffiyeh.

He never once did. He said it was shameful. Get your fucking facts straight before you come on here sprouting as though you are an oracle. Piss off!! Sick of imbeciles like yourself who think they know shit when they don't.

This is just plain disinformation. The pope called Israel's actions terrorism. Phoned the church in Gaza every single day.

I wouldn't really be surprised if they actually killed him tbh.

So yeah, ehatever this piece is about, it has nothing to do with reality.

Fuck off you imbecile. Sick of people like yourself who purport to know everything but know nothing. Pope Francis has never called the genocide in Gaza terrorism. He has called it shameful. Don't come on here making out like you're an Oracle when you know nothing.

I'm afraid this misunderstanding is the result of all that is erased from the main stream media for all of these months. Here is one site below of Mondoweiss and those of us who receive Common Dreams in the US regularly know how often Pope Francis talked about Gaza, and yes, he absolutely did say the Genocide was terrorism. Perhaps in Australia there have not been such outlets. We have all been lied to and especially lied to by omission as in this case.

I think we may have to agree to disagree on this Liana. His Holiness never did describe the genocide in Gaza as terrorism.

This is one time he said it. I know I heard it at least one other time as well. Pope Francis advocated for the Gazans vociferously and called the churches in Gaza repeatedly, sometimes daily, but you of all people, who do so much good tracking for your reports, should know how tightly the media is controlled and how much can easily slip through the cracks.. It's not possible to keep up with the all the propaganda.

His Holiness has never explicitly called the actions of Israel in Gaza a “genocide” or labeled them as “active terrorism.”

He has made public appeals for peace and has condemned the suffering of civilians in both Gaza and Israel, his language has consistently remained diplomatic and neutral, avoiding direct accusations against Israel or the use of terms like “genocide” or “terrorism” in relation to Israeli military actions.

In October 2023, following the Hamas attack on Israel and Israel’s response in Gaza, he called for the release of hostages and humanitarian aid for Gaza, saying “terrorism and extremism do not help to reach a solution to the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians.”

He has frequently referred to the “terrible suffering” in Gaza and has called for a ceasefire and peace negotiations, but has stopped short of assigning legal or moral labels like genocide or terrorism to the actions of state actors.

Many human rights groups, theologians, and even some Catholic leaders have urged the Vatican to take a stronger stance. However, he opted for a cautious approach, consistent with the Vatican’s broader diplomatic strategy in conflict zones.

wow, a very mature reaction to criticism… not

I did not call you names or anything of that sort.

https://youtube.com/shorts/RJj2EcD3u8w

you could make the argument, that he could have meant it in a different way or wasn't clear enough. But you didn't even know about that speech, because you're a lazy ass mofo with zero ability to entertain the idea that the pope was pro palestine.

Nevertheless you're pretty pathetic for attacking me in such a vicious and primitive way.

See you never

Thank you George for this post. I have known for a while now that these religious institutions do not always practice what they preach. The Catholic Church has its own demons in its closet and there are plenty of them. He should have sent a delegation to Gaza even if he himself couldn’t go due to his age, health issues etc. So sad. 😞😢☮️🇵🇸

Thank you Roslyn for this link. I read it and it turns out I’ve been watching Larry Johnson on the Judge’s show and Dialogue Works(with Nima) for a little while now. Larry is spot on about what he wrote in this article. The Catholic Church is corrupt in how it, in some cases the higher ups and in others a priest or a nun, has tried to cover up the molestation of children in the church. I say a thank you to Larry Johnson for this informative article, as well. I had heard how the Catholic Church had ratlines for Nazi war criminals to escape to South America after WW2. I was brought up Catholic, but I do not attend anymore and haven’t in many years, not a religious person.
