Growing up as a kid in the late 70's was the line that Australia was under constant threat from Indonesia invading. That was a line and a lie run by the CIA and the Americans to keep Australia beholden to fear and to America maintain g its bases in Australia. Fifty years on Neither Indonesia nor China has invaded Australia. Why is that?

China trade war is not Australia fight either. Russia, China and Iran are not our enemies. Like any nation where their sovereignty is under threat by external forces, they have the right to take arms in self defence. Australia has always being told what to do by the deep state which affect our international and domestic policies. Australia must learn from the Ukraine lesson and the fact US does not have “friends” but serfs, is telling we will be left like pariahs when we no longer are useful idiots.

However much I detest Trump, what he has done re Ukraine is a good thing especially for Ukrainians that have been unnecessarily dragged into a war for so long, by the EU and US under the guise of freedom and democracy. Australia should grow up and stand up for itself, maybe Parliamentarians need to read up on real Geopolitics and history and stop following/supporting biased war mongering thinking and Imperialist Settler Colonial thinking and behaviour in everything Australia does here at home and also overseas.

Let's wait and see whether anything actually gets done, or whether the flow of weapons and money resumes, once the little twerp (or his replacement) puts on a suit.

Maybe this Prime Minister should take the lead from other Australian Prime Ministers and offer “our thoughts and prayers”, as this is what our Australian government has given our fellow countrymen in times of severe crisis.

Our farmers can’t be the strength we need, our police, our teachers, our nurses, our firefighters, our paramedics, our small businesses, our manufacturing (what’s left of it), our own defence forces, can’t be the strength we need if the government keeps giving our money away overseas.

Australia, like a dog, lives in abject terror, not that Master will beat him, but that Master might abandon him.

Once you know this ...."2014 Former Australian foreign minister Bob Carr has suggested Julia Gillard’s dogged insistence on supporting Israel in a controversial United Nations vote was because Australian foreign policy had been “subcontracted” to Jewish donors"

One can begin to understand Australian foreign policy

I get it George, I do. And the focus on the geopolitical spheres closer to home. But I do wonder, what does Australia do when it's sovereignty is invaded, and the call goes out to others for help. They could use all the arguments you are using to not turn up for Australia. So if we change the boot to the other foot, or another foot...............what do you propose? And where is all this corruption in Ukraine now.........got any updates. I would be keen and interested to hear them. China has been pretty close lately............as a Kiwi, if you needed help.........geographically close but could do jack shite. I am no fan of America, a proud no nukes Kiwi.........but there is gonna be a gap if we dont even in a small way contribute to new alliances in the changing landscape. Ohhh it was a safe time wasn't it, knowing that the big stick in the hands of the proud bastions of freedom and the brave new world would come to our aid.....coz the world was their oyster. Now thats all changed and not gauranteed, maybe friends afar is a new space. No war is good, and like you Aotearoa NZ had paid it's dues in blood for pointless causes, and power agendas. So putin should have his way...................I would be interested in more of your thoughts.

As an aside, I have wondered about the future of US bases in the Philipines with this latest mob cutting money everywhere and becoming more isolationist.
