Putin bashing is very passé. Anybody who does shows how ignorant they are. They haven't read or heard his speeches, his two hour long press conferences where he discusses policy issues in detail. They haven't watched the Oliver Stone and Tucker Carlson interviews. He is a lawyer and a historian and a respected statesman.
Of course there are a lot leaders out there, prime ministers and senators included, and other assorted losers who freely indulge in hate mongering to justify forever wars and do scapegoating.
Too many peoples in the West are pre-programmed for hating, racism and bigotry--- never worthy qualities.
Thanks again George. Sheridan is either a paid shill or a blind ideologue prone to magical thinking. Anyone who gives credence to his opinion needs to do a lot more homework. My point of confusion at this stage is why Trump is drawing a more responsible line regarding Russia, but is allowing Netanyahu to still call the shots in the Middle East.
Thank you, George, for offering some contextual analyses to a global maelstrom that is exacerbated by tendencies of corporate media outlets to self-serving and distorted misrepresentations of reality. My real disagreements with your comments relate to your description of the motivations behind some of trump's actions, such as: "His willingness to bring an end to this devastating conflict is responsible and courageous, marking a necessary shift away from reckless interventionism", and "Trump’s pragmatic and peace-oriented approach to Ukraine exemplifies responsible leadership". I would assert that he wants to extricate himself from a situation that he reluctantly recognizes as an exercise in futility - to appease putin while arranging to exploit Ukraine's rare earth minerals and other resources in the process. Furthermore, to describe trump as 'pragmatic, peace-oriented', or exhibiting 'responsible leadership' is incompatible with his addled babble about making Canada our 51st state, acquiring Greenland and the Panama Canal, threatening Mexico, and the numerous other examples of authoritarian, racist, destructive and asinine policies and 'leadership' that he has so far displayed. Besides that, I sincerely believe that much of your analysis is relevant and helpful.
Trump is playing a game and pulling a trick. He never does anything except for himself, including for his corporate benefactors who will do something for him. Do not trust anything he does or says.
You start to wonder if all staff at The Israelian, sorry, The Australian, have taken a stupid pill or whether there is an Idiot Department which writes all the stories and publishes them under the name of some willing idiot like Sheridan or Tognini. Sheridan was once generally informed, albeit biased toward the US, which makes it even more surprising, while Tognini has never been informed or particularly intelligent.
I stopped reading this clowns columns long ago. Sadly he and his cardigan are cringe worthy....

Lord Posonby's Ten Commandments of War Propaganda:
1. We don’t want war, we are only defending ourselves.
2. Our adversary is solely responsible for this war.
3. Our adversary’s leader is inherently evil and resembles the devil.
4. We are defending a noble cause, not our particular interests.
5. The enemy is purposefully committing atrocities; if we are making mistakes this happens without intention.
6. The enemy makes use of illegal weapons.
7. We suffer few losses, the enemy’s losses are considerable.
8. Recognized intellectuals and artists support our cause.
9. Our cause is sacred.
10. Whoever casts doubt on our propaganda helps the enemy and is a traitor.
