Rising tensions between Israel and Hezbollah continue to mount bringing the Middle East to the brink of a major war.
And while observers warn Israel’s military posturing and aggressive rhetoric towards Hezbollah in Lebanon could escalate into a full-blown war, it’s also sparked debate about Israel’s motivations behind its plans for war - suggesting extremist factions within the Israeli government are pursuing a broader geopolitical agenda.
A flashpoint for decades, the border between Israel and Lebanon has consistently seen consistent skirmishes erupting over the years between Hezbollah and the IDF. However, the current increase in tension follows a series of incidents, including cross-border attacks and retaliations - heightening the risk of a wider conflict.
Hezbollah, based in Lebanon, has significantly enhanced its military capabilities since it’s the last major conflict with Israel in 2006 - it now possesses a larger more sophisticated stockpile of rockets and missiles, many capable of striking deep into Israel and there’s nothing Israel’s much vaunted iron Dome can do anything to stop them.
Hezbollah of 2024 is a vastly different outfit to the Hezbollah of 2006 which overwhelmingly inflicted a humiliating defeat over Israel.
The Hezbollah of circa 2024, is a much more powerfully sophisticated modern army which Israel will not be able to defeat, without US support and that’s even questionable even if the US does lend military support – and its another war, Israel is incapable of fighting on its own.
There’s much to say about and describe a nation who continues to commit genocide and barbarity amongst the Palestinians, but also wants to expand its reach across the border to neighbouring Lebanon, but can’t do it on its own, with a blood thirsty lust to wage war and kill innocence?
Hezbollah which continues to respond to the growing threat by Israel’s incursions into Lebanon, not only sees Hezbollah issue warnings to Israel, but Israel has begun bolstering its defences along the northern border, conducting military exercises, and issuing warnings to Hezbollah and the Lebanese government.
Hezbollah is not Hamas. It’s defence of Lebanon against a country hellbent on creating major regional conflict, with Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu desperate to extend Israel’s reach and take control over critical resources and regional dominance all-the-while saving his political hide and avoiding jail.
Lebanon’s water resources including the Litani River, have always been of significant interest to Israel. Water scarcity is a major issue in the region, and control over additional water sources could provide a strategic advantage for Israel, while its ports, particularly in Beirut and Tripoli, are vital for regional trade. Back in the 1980’s Israel invaded Lebanon in an attempt to secure access to Lebanon’s water resources.
Securing control or influence over the ports could enhance Israel’s economic and military position in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Israel’s government which comprises of a coalition of factions that includes several hardline groups have consistently advocated for aggressive policies towards Israel’s neighbouring countries – pushing for more confrontational strategies, favouring strong military action against perceived threats. Their influence has led to a hawkish stance on national security issues, including Hezbollah.
Various elements within the factions support the concept of a "Greater Israel," envisioning an expanded Israeli state encompassing more territory. And while it’s not official government policy, it influences the rhetoric and actions of policymakers. Israel’s quest to embark on the expansion of a “Greater Israel” won’t stop with Lebanon, it also has Jordan in its sights as well as Egypt.
Egypt will be a bridge too far, highlighting Israel’s delusional insanity.
Israel’s most important ally, the US has always provided Israel with military aid, advanced weaponry, and diplomatic support for decades, however, growing concern is mounting about the implications of Israel’s aggressive policies for US interests in the region. Furthermore, Israel’s ability to emerge victorious and sustain a prolonged conflict with Hezbollah heavily depends on continued US support and even that’s not guaranteed. American aid and military technology remain crucial the IDF’s operational capabilities.
Given the escalating tensions mounting between Hezbollah and Israel, it’s critical the US reassess its approach and exert its influence to prevent the region from further destabilising. In order to prevent from a fullscale war erupting between Hezbollah and Israel, the US needs through diplomacy to de-escalate what looks like reaching a flashpoint of no return. The US can no longer allow Israel to run wildly about throughout the Middle East behaving as though it can do as it pleases. It needs to make it clear Israel’s aggressive actions continue to risk broader regional conflict which are unacceptable.
Israel’s broader strategic goals and the aggressive stance of hardline factions within the government have been problematic for the entire Middle East and establishing security and peace throughout the region.
The US can no longer allow Israel to control America and dictate terms to a country that funds it financially and militarily. The time has come for US policy makers and the Biden administration to say enough is enough and get Israel to stand down throughout the Middle East, whether it be with Hezbollah and Lebanon, the ongoing genocide and slaughter in Palestine or with Iran.
Israel’s Zionistic policies have destroyed the Middle East and the US can no longer show cowardice toward reigning in a rogue and lunatic state.
I'm convinced that US policy, whether foreign or domestic is controlled by Israeli Zionists. The USI is a zombie state, it simply does not know it's been mortally wounded.
🤬🤬🤬
I have a Facebook friend in Lebanon😢 She's afraid of Israel. Gee, I wonder why🤔
