It’s hard not to be affected by the images of the bombings Palestinians are enduring and the mass casualties emanating from the Israeli Defence Force’s (IDF) relentless reign of terror.
Knowing when the bombings will stop is a raffle – it won’t happen until Gaza is reduced to rubble.
Gaza’s casualty rate is already horrific and that’s from what we know - the body count will undoubtedly surge beyond shockingly horrifying figures.
And when the disturbing images of bodies being pulled out from under the ruins of homes begin to circulate around the world, Gaza will just be a sad memory of an open prison that once stood and is now soaked in the ruins of emotional torment and blood.
The world has watched for decades and allowed Palestinians to be dehumanised and subjugated, while doing nothing to stop it and the world should be ashamed.
Genocide it seems is now acceptable, and history has an irony that will never be lost to the world.
Hitler’s attempted elimination of the Jews is now Netanyahu’s seemingly ethnically cleansing of the Palestinians.
Hamas’s attack on October 7 was evil, however, it lacked the devastatingly impactful crushing force the IDF continues to reign on Gaza.
And the narrative of decapitated babies, men, and women mercilessly tortured has seen no evidence produced.
Social media has never shied away from showing the horrors of crime, and with claims by the IDF of babies beheaded, social media platforms have been unable to show any acts of barbarity. It’s much like the narrative of the Russians torturing Ukranian hostages when video footage showed it was Ukranian soldiers who tortured Russians.
It’s the same playbook the US and Israel like to use.
The first casualty of war is always the truth. The surge of violence in Gaza following the October 7 Hamas attack, has subsequently sparked world-wide outrage.
Hamas’s attack was met with a swift and expansive military response from Israel.
However, Hamas is not enduring the suffering - Gaza is bearing the brunt of Israel’s relentless bombings.
Casualties mount, and infrastructure repeatedly targeted – worsening conditions for Palestinians.
The narrative has been Israel has the right to defend itself, and Israel does have a right to defend itself, but does it have the right to use force that is disproportionate - openly aiming to eliminate another race?
Self-defence is legitimate when the response is proportionate but hiding behind the mask of self-defence as a justifiable cause to use grossly disproportionate force, moves beyond the realm of acceptability in order to commit acts of terror and genocide while crossing over into barbarism and inhumanity.
The international community is divided – it’s the countries with close ties to the US who support the egregious acts of inhumanity Israel is enacting, through its murdering of innocence as its means to defend itself.
While other countries have condemned what they see as excessive force that disproportionately affects Palestinians.
The United Nations, a mediator in many global conflicts, has been the subject of criticism for its inaction in the surge in Israeli-Palestinian hostilities.
Resolutions have been proposed, yet a unified international response continues to remain elusive.
Geopolitical relationships, especially the close ties between the US and Israel, have shaped international reactions - leading to calls for a neutral, balanced approach to addressing the crisis.
Atrocities committed during World War II, highlight the severity of the Israeli-Palestinian situation.
Even though the comparisons are contentious, they underscore the desperate need for the world to address large-scale conflicts and a humanitarian disaster.
With tensions continuing to escalate, there's consensus for an immediate ceasefire, provision of humanitarian aid and mediation and diplomacy.
The challenges now is finding a durable solution.
History’s shown, prolonged conflicts have far-reaching consequences, not only for the immediate region but for world peace and stability.
Now, the world waits, with hope diplomacy will pave the way for a peaceful resolution.
The world can no longer idly sit by and do nothing while Netanyahu continues to commit unbridled war crimes and acts of terror - slaughtering innocent people in what he defines as justifiable self-defence.
