Eight years ago, Donald Trump’s infamous travel down the escalator unwittingly positioned the US on a course of change that would reshape America forever.
Trump’s 2015 announcement to nominate for the 2016 US Presidential Election set about a series of events and consequences the US and the world are finding incapable of dealing with.
People don’t perceive escalator rides to be eventful, but Trump’s no ordinary person.
His obviously was, and it came with equal fanfare and controversy that rattled Democrats, Republicans the media and Americans alike.
Whether they liked it or not, Trump was in the race, and he was in it to win.
But just as he won, Trump also exhibited political naivety, inexperience and misguided trust - and its cost him significantly ever since.
Trump may have been a President elected by default and unexpected to win in 2016, but he became President none-the-less. The boy from New York and not part of the establishment had risen to become the world’s most powerful man.
Since 2016, Trump has been the focus of his political enemies, media and anyone else who sought to pile on.
His offensiveness to the Democratic political elite - is based on fear and loathing not because he’s incapable as President, it means more than that.
He’s been there, done that and for him, there’s a lot more to do -there’s unfinished business.
Trump as President then, and now his renomination has a direct correlation to the protective bubble of the world in which they live, and the undeniable benefits it brings - he was seen as a destructive force in 2016, a man unhinged who would destroy the US and lead the world into a third world war.
But Trump was the complete opposite.
Trump’s decision to renominate for 2024, brings fear and more, and protecting the prosperity and privilege to the Democrats isn’t it.
Since Trump lost the controversial 2020 election, Prevention for the Democrats has been better than Cure for his political enemies and ‘Getting Trump’, and stopping his run for 2024, has consumed them, and the world has seen a Get Trump campaign at all costs.
So, in a time of global challenges, a call for unity and decisive leadership now more than ever, becomes more pronounced.
And the Bidens and Democrats haven’t offered it.
Many argue the US, and by extension the world, needs a strong leader who isn’t afraid to make tough decisions, which is why, to pull both the country and the world from the brink, there’s a case to be made for the reelection of Donald Trump as the 47th president of the United States.
And since the election of Joe Biden as President, the world has undergone massive changes.
Economic turmoil, geopolitical tension, and a pandemic have shifted the balance of power and reshaped international relations.
And at such a time, America’s role is paramount, not just for its own sake, but globally.
The US now, requires a leader who has a track record of challenging conventions and advocating for American interests, and Trump, whether people agree with his methods or not, has consistently demonstrated those characteristics.
The U.S. economy under Trump witnessed substantial growth prior to the pandemic.
Tax cuts, deregulation, and a relentless pursuit of better trade deals translated into lower unemployment rates, rising wages, and stock market highs.
If America is to recover from the ongoing economic slowdown, Trump’s proven strategies could be the solution.
A robust American economy doesn’t just benefit Americans; it aids global economic health.
Geopolitics and the international stage are more complicated than ever and with the rise of China, the re-emergence of Russia, and the multifaceted challenges of North Korea and the Middle East, the world needs America to have a clear stance.
Trump’s administration was unapologetic about placing American interests first, and by doing so, it often led to more direct and honest negotiations.
Returning to such an approach offers clarity in these uncertain times rather than the hidden hand of US hegemony and its duplicity.
The anti-Trump sentiment that grew during his Presidency, and persisted afterward, has and continues to be palpable.
But, if America is to unite and move forward, there’s a need for introspection.
Disagreeing with policies is fundamental to democracy, but when disagreement turns into unwavering hatred, and the fostering of a psychosis progress stalls.
The reelection of Trump could be a chance for Americans to reevaluate their biases, focus on issues over personalities, and find common ground.
Trump is unashamedly a proud patriot, and his quest to Make America Great Again fomented in many ways - policies when in office bore great economic outcomes unlike the deliberate intent of the Biden administration to wind everything Trump enacted back.
The Trump administration prioritised American energy independence, resulting in the U.S. becoming a net exporter of oil for the first time in decades.
It not only has economic implications but geopolitical ones too, reducing American reliance on volatile regions.
But moreover, his commitment to infrastructure development can be a crucial element in the nation’s post-pandemic recovery.
As The world struggles to contend with issues that know no, no borders - cyber threats, terrorism, and pandemics to name some, Trump’s policies on border security, defence, and international accountability can play a role in fortifying the world against such challenges.
A strong America, after all, is a pivotal piece in the global defence puzzle.
With a deep-seated mistrust in institutions - be it media, academia, or even government agencies - a leader who questions, challenges, and demands transparency can be essential.
While Trump’s critics often saw his scepticism as undermining, supporters viewed it as necessary to hold entities accountable.
Bringing him back might offer a chance to rebuild trust where it’s been eroded and lost.
Interestingly, though, Trump’s unconventional approach often resulted in heightened global dialogue.
Allies and adversaries alike were compelled to engage, debate, and sometimes, re-evaluate their stances and while the diplomacy may have been occasionally tense, are now indispensable in a fluid, evolving and rapidly changing world order.
The world now stands at a point of indeterminable outcomes.
The path forward demands bold decisions, unity, and leadership that can navigate through uncharted waters.
And while Donald Trump remains a divisive figure, his potential return to the US Presidency could be the shake-up needed to steer America, and by extension the world, towards a less troubled path and brighter future.
The essence of democracy lies in informed choice, and as 2024 approaches and America marches to the polls, Americans must weigh-up all factors and the what ifs and then what happens, before casting their vote on November 5, 2024.
Great Article George. The amount of distrust the US has accrued since Biden's installment is significant. Even African nations are kicking out the EU and US along with their puppet Leaders just to survive. They live in poverty and lack of electricity while the EU mines and steals their resources, breaks all promises and leaves them poverty stricken. Any wonder they turn to Russia for assistance? It must end, either the US have a leader that is strong and puts America first, builds back trust, or they fall and lose everything to the ever rising BRICS nations.
This is truly amazing article George, well done !!
