16 years ago, Mearsheimer alerted us to the power of the Israeli Lobby (all the groups of concentrated wealth that hold its ideology-all the nation's it has extreme influence over- Israeli led American aggression around the world) Today Mearsheimer is pointing out that if America bombs Iran, Israel will receive hellfire from Iran that it has never experienced before. I must
admit the idea of Israel actually receiving some of the medicine it has inflicted on the Middle East appeals to my sense of getting just deserts.
It is reported that Israel is telling Trump not to bomb Iran at this time because it can't defend itself against what Iran can serve up. One can only hope Israel gets its just deserts. Karma will be horrendous.
George, I agree with your analysis you spell out so clearly. As a matter of Fact, I published a new article this February 1st on the same themes of your article from a different perspective - from the Balfour Declaration of November 2, 1917 leading to the Israeli Genocide Today.
THE FINAL JUDGMENT: Executing the Fifty-Year Foreclosure
Posted on February 1, 2026 by Ray Joseph Cormier
February 1 is not only the ancient day calling for Ritual Cleansing—the purging of the old to make way for the Truth—but it also marks my 51st Spiritual Birthday AD. Since I first came alive to God in 1975, I have stood as a witness while my flesh now moves through its 82nd year. Today, the ritual is no longer a ceremony; it is a Verdict.
I have no knowledge of Iran's military capabilities, so I am somewhat reluctant to comment on this one. I agree with you that if things escalate to the point of military hostilities, the reasons will be quite clear: Israel.
Trump has used Iran's nuclear program as his excuse before, despite the absence of any evidence of nuclear buildup. He has more recently expressed concern over human rights abuses, which (given what his ICE Brown Shirts are doing, and given the nation's history of supporting governments that committed far worse violations than Iran has since the days of the Shah) is an absolutely perverse excuse, even by Trumpian standards. [Perhaps I should write that it's another "Big, Beautiful Lie"?]
I must challenge you sharply on one point, though: << Kamala Harris wouldn’t have been any better..>>
Harris is a Zionist, and she would have continued to support Israel. However, if you look at the horrors Trump has inflicted on this country, on civil rights, on the Constitution, on people of color, on the environment, on the tax code; on the effects his policies will have on air, global warming, water, pollution at large; on the invasion of Venezuela; on the likely or at least possible invasions of Greenland, Honduras, and Mexico; on the definite possibility that he will try to wrest Alberta from Canada; on his unmitigated greed (having made $4 billion-plus in 2025) and vanity (naming institutions and structures after himself)...
NO! The system in this country is an abomination, and the two parties are very similar in some respects (e.g., vis-a-vis Israel). However, Trump is the vilest criminal in the history of the planet, and to suggest that "Kamala Harris wouldn’t have been any better" is disingenuous as well as dangerous. [Three million fewer people voted in 2024, at least in part because of such "thinking." The US may never hold another free election, and the Trump coup may soon evolve into a formal dictatorship. HARRIS WOULD NEVER HAVE POSED SUCH A THREAT TO THE NATION'S FREEDOM!
Harris ran one of the most vapid campaigns I've seen in my lifetime. Perhaps Harris may not have been any worse, but there is no doubt the democratic party is about as corrupt as one can imagine now. Look for example, at the party's current tepid and putrid response to the burgeoning fascist masked secret police Trump has set loose upon the American people - is one example, along with the continuing moral abomination of GAZA.
The problem we have with voting back the Democratic party is the "Ratchet Effect" of two corrupt political parties. One party, is always moving further to the right - to what we have now - a near fascist country that ignores its own Constitution and laws, the Republican party. The other corrupt party, the Democratic party - when it returns to power - does nothing substantial at all to moving the RATCHET back to the left. So for the last few decades, the US has been steadily moving Right - Stop - Right - Stop - Right - but ever continuing Right because Harris and other democrats never move back Left, and in fact, pretty much are in the hands of the Oligarchic powers in the US, who bribe US politicians, run Wallstreet and the MIC.
If it weren't for the corruption of the Democratic party and running vapid, corporatized candidates like Harris (and making sure Bernie was kept in the peanut gallery) - the American people would not have ended up with Trump in the first place. And instead of blaming themselves for their own corrupt leadership - the Democrats blame working Americans for not voting for them.
I agree with you -- in particular, about the way they rigged 2016 so that Bernie's voice was stifled. The Clintons are/were corrupt centrists; Obama was certainly no better, and Biden may have been slightly worse.
Alas, the system of government is so corrupt -- and so NON-parliamentarian -- that it reduces to a duopoly in which people must vote for the lesser of two evils. That is the MOST we can get. "Representation" is by geography, not by ideology; there are no votes of no-confidence, national referenda, or coalitions. It's simply "winner-take-all. People who (a) stayed home and didn't vote, (b) voted "Third-Party" (e.g., Dela Cruz, Stein, West: all good people, by the way), or (c) voted for Trump out of juvenile spite MUST accept blame for the fact that this country may have become a dictatorship: de jure, as well as de facto.
Bottom line: The lesser of two evils is the best the US voters can get in the farce that masquerades as "democracy." The Democrats are as corrupt, greedy, selfish, and spineless as you say, but the other side is infinitely worse. Pick your poison...

By that logic, people who voted Team D as the "lesser evil" MUST own the genocide.
"Lesser of two evils" - when both parties endorse and fund a genocide, against all International Law?
That is a clear red line for me. Totally unacceptable. I'd rather watch the whole edifice burn down to the ground before I vote for a party that supports children having their brains blown out by IDF Snipers. And that is exactly what the Democratic party allowed and Uncle Joe Biden let happen.
Bottom Line: The Lesser of Two Evils is a morally bankrupt approach to life. I'm not going to live my life as a battered wife in an abusive relationship. No matter what shitty arguments the person who is beating me daily comes up with for their abusive behavior.
I have wondered about that, also. Perhaps she is afraid? She knows that Trump can send the Department of "Justice" up the asses of anyone he doesn't like. He can also send more of his goons and -- perhaps -- federal troops into any state he doesn't like. [There is no "justice" system in the US; only a corrupt "legal" system that can be twisted to suit the desires of the people in power.]
Whatever the reason, Harris has been disturbingly quiet. Of course, that's typical of "leadership" amongst the Democrats, who are indeed "led" by people like Schumer, Jeffreys, et al.

Don't kid yourself. Iran will be turned into a failed state.
Whether Israel and its American thug are brave or cowardly is irrelevant. What matters only is power.
Delusional. Do you think Iran is Libya, Syria, Iraq, Suda or Somalia? Your understanding of Iran must be based on Zionist-controlled media.
We hear such wishful thinking before every American war.
Wasn't long ago, and people were predicting defeat in Venezuela, Syria, etc..
Quite simply, Iran is nothing like the Americans have faced for the last 40 years at least.
I really don’t know why you think that the American-israeli terror bombing will be successful.
We heard that ine before the first gulf war as well.
Uh huh.
We also heard that "israel is the best army in the region" and look how that turned out.
I want to see neocon and zionists squashed. Apparently you want to cheerlead for them.
Israel still stands. Its enemies do not.i want to see Israel smashed as well, but what I want is not relevant.
israel has failed to defeat anyone on any front.
Don't kid yourself. Syria is a failed state, Hanas defeated, Hezbollah neutered.
Israel is evil but not stupid.
BIngo!
"Modern warfare doesn’t reward size."
That one sentence alone: brilliant.

Let's pretend that this is true and not just an excuse. We have no evidence that it true, but whatever. Bear with me.
If she's that much of a coward, a President Harris wouldn't stand up to the neocons, eithet.
