But there’s an uncomfortable moral symmetry at play. The devastation inflicted on Gaza since October 7 has been catastrophic. Six-hundred Palestinians have been slaughtered. Now Israel is getting its right whack – and that’s to be applauded.
quite so, george. so i assumed the option of the 600,000 edification when i forwarded your insuperable, inarguable exegesis to those on my turgid contact list, at least to those for whom it is relevant.
Just finished reading and restacked. Lots of quotables you have here but I shared the one that I felt hit the nail squarely on the head. It will become even more relevant as this situation develops.
As I write (7:09 PM Eastern -- a shade more than 14 hours before trading starts), the futures are all down: Dow -546, S&P -70.25, Nasdaq -261. Crude oil futures are up $5.25 (7.83%). The longer the violence continues, the worse the trend.
Of course, Trump's people long ago bought puts and started selling short. THEY will do fine, but the working stiffs will watch their 401K funds go south...
Israel has pulled the curtain once again on the fallacy of a “rules based order” and international “law.” The ICC and ICJ are worthless as is the UN. It’s the rule of the jungle, survival of the fittest and might makes right. This ironically began when one of the first major resolutions of the nascent UN was to codify ethnic cleansing in recognition of Israel in 1948 and endorsing the partition of Palestine and European “Jewish” settler colonialism. The UN needs to go the way of the League of Nations and a new world order must arise from the world’s masses overthrowing the global pedophile cabal that rules the governments of the so called “civilized” West and their vassals.
Superb George, coherent, insightful, and rare cut-through commentary. Perhaps the two rogue regimes should have taken some time out to read Herodotus. He had some excellent insights about the brilliant Persians.
Trump, as we all know can’t read, so he’ll find out the hard way that he is going to need extra nappies in a month, unless of course he turns TACO again. If that happens, Vodka will move and groove in Moscow, while Baijiu free flows in Beijing.
Of course, the oil sheiks will be smiling from ear to ear. For everyone else, Woolies and Coles will be offering down-downs on home brand Baked Beans, while we all enjoy a rip roaring global recession. I wonder what Penny and Albo will have to say then? They’ll probably announce their retirement from politics and encourage us to vote Green, because they’ll be totally cooked. And…I’m fine with that.
Brilliantly articulated James. Albo and Wong will have nothing to say because when the veil of war is drawn and the global economy collapses - they will still do their utmost to maintain power because what’s on offer from the Opposition is even worse.
The opposition is mind blowing George. Created by none other than Lil’ Johnny Howard, the catalyst that ignited the possibility of a dystopian future in Australia.
Yep, Howard was the grand daddy of Australian indenture and servitude to what is now a rogue state. And Australia is umbilically connected. It is a complete strategic disaster.
The question is how long is America going to allow its weak-kneed presidents to be drawn into endless wars it can't afford and never wins. US presidents aren't powerful. They are the dupes of the crazy war mongers who control them.
This is the war Iran can't lose because it is in a tri-lateral defense pact with China and Russia and they can't afford to see Iran lose. It has nothing to do with nuclear weapons and everything to do with the last gasp of a dying empire.
It also means the planned show down in the South China sea between the US and China may never take place.
Just posted on social media a few minutes ago. An Iranian hypersonic hitting in Jerusalem. Note: the US and Israel have not been able to develop this level of missile technology, although the US has tried: https://www.facebook.com/reel/1983731585891675
It is interesting to read this article on 13/3. The Strait of Hormuz may well prove decisive. So long as the Iranian government can strangle shipping in the strait, they can still win the conflict in a political sense, although at an enormous cost. Israel doesn't care about the global economy but the US is fundamentally a plutocracy and a global energy shock is never good for business. I have no love for the theocratic Iranian regime but compared to Israel it is the lesser of two evils. If the Iranian regime really was finished then they would only need to load up their remaining missiles with high-level radioactive material and rely on Israel's Iron Dome to disperse the radioactivity all over Israel and turn it into another Chernobyl. Nobody would want to consume anything grown in Israel ever again.
It is Critical to remember how we got to this point:
Foreign policies - 1860-1904 Theodor Herzl, The 1896 Basel Program, 1935 Jabotinsky's New Zionist Organization (NZO) Revisionist Zionism, The 1916 Sykes–Picot Agreement, the 1917 The Balfour Declaration, The 1933 Transfer Agreement, 1939 White Paper, the 1948 Redline Agreement, the deep state’s 1947 Truman doctrine, the 1948 Marshall Plan, the 1996 ‘clean break; strategy for securing the realm’ policy, the 1997 PNAC project for a new american century ‘rebuilding america's defenses’, the 2000 Present Dangers: Crisis and Opportunity in American Foreign and Defense Policy, the 2001 ‘full spectrum domination doctrine’ the '2001 Proclamation 7463', the 2003 Rumsfield's 'a different kind of war, the 2009 "which path to persia" policy documents. The 1983 MILNET (fully Military Network), the 2002 NORTHCOM command (continuity of Government group) and the new GOLDEN DOME projects!!
It’s also Critical to remember Christian Dispensationalism that fuel Christian support: “the Christian Zionist movement” and the 1975 “Christians United for Israel", the 1909 Scofield Bible by its interpretation of Genesis 12:3 "The man or nation that lifts a voice or hand against Israel invites the wrath of God."
Why we are experiencing an Islamic jihad today is the inevitable outcome of the ethnosupremacist, hypermilitaristic, psychopathic ideology settler colonialism is responsible.
Trump’s military incompetence and lack of historical knowledge prevented him from learning anything from the Vietnam War, the conflict in Afghanistan and even the Bay of Pigs incidents.
His choice of people more focused on personal loyalty than political reality will be another expensive experience for all Americans to absorbe.
Great analysis as usual. When the political west start working with other countries, rather than label those that do not capitulate to empire demands , (and are dehumanised : referred as dictators/terrorists/worst regime/ savages/ uncivililised/animals etc , ) empire exploits labour and resources as well as enslave other populations. This Imperial Colonial mentality will keep on showing up across the world if we keep quiet and let it happen. As you rightfully say they got it wrong this time, this time psychological warfare, propaganda, military warfare will be matched by truth, fighting for humanity.
George, I think you meant to say that 600 thousand Palestinians have been killed.
Hi Hannah what did I write?
You wrote 600, but I knew what you meant!
But there’s an uncomfortable moral symmetry at play. The devastation inflicted on Gaza since October 7 has been catastrophic. Six-hundred Palestinians have been slaughtered. Now Israel is getting its right whack – and that’s to be applauded.
And hello! Haven’t finished it yet but as usual you’ve written a great analysis.
Correction made. 600 was a pretty low number don’t you think?

Definitely stood out as a low number to me!

Thanks for your great work George!

Howard, the man lived in Bush's pocket and who signed us up for Iraq without asking the cabinet or the country first, which gave a resounding NO!

An excellent article. I completely agree with what was written.
Religion is the killer,
Hubris is the weapon,
Genocide is the outcome!
Resources are the prize!!!

We have learned nothing from war.
Excellent analysis. My fear is that Iran might not have enough missals to last weeks and months.

Give sorrow the words, the grief that does not speak ...

All fixed Roslyn. Thank you for drawing my attention the typos.
Few typos in that George and not just the 600 mistake.
