Whatever you may think about Tucker Carlson and his axing from Fox, it arose because he valued the simplest most important principles of journalism in a profession that has profoundly lost its way - Truth.
Carlson has been a force the powers at Fox found difficult to control.
It’s not because Carlson was uncontrollable, because he is an enigma seeking to hold to account the establishment, and if that meant biting the hand that fed him, then he had no qualms doing it - and he did.
Recent interviews with former President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, the speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy choosing to leak the J6 footage of 2021 to Carlson, amongst many other groundbreaking interviews, shows what a force Carlson is.
Carlson is considered the trusted voice of rationality and reason amongst the rebels of the establishment - even though the left demonise him as a conspiracy theorist and liar.
His demonisation proves the fear that rancours amongst those who fear him.
Carlson’s virtues offend an establishment bankrupt of principles of honesty determined to drive corruption and exploit a growing chasm in society in a post COVID world - reeling under the control of a Pandemic that was seemingly dubious and smacking of a global experiment.
Money is always a root factor. In journalism an adage which speaks true to everything where corruption is ingrained, and advantage and power gained is ‘always follow the money’.
Greed for profit is a motivation dictating the behaviour of everything.
With COVID, politicians were the colluders and the media its propagandists, and it goes a long way to give some insight to why Carlson is no longer at Fox and and the hatred of Trump by the ideologues and zealots of the progressive woke left.
Both are indomitable forces - strange bed fellows linked by a common thread to expose corruption entrenched in politics and to ‘drain the swamp’ as Trump emphatically describes it, and call out the media for allowing itself to be hijacked.
The world has changed dramatically, and both see it, know it and are calling it.
Working for Murdoch is always interesting and if you have, you quickly realise his motivations and power and influence.
Carlson’s axing would have most certainly been ordered by Murdoch with son Lachlan the trigger man - contrary to reports it was Lachlan in consultation with chief executive Suzanne Scott who decided to axe Carlson.
Scott is the’C…t’ Carlson allegedly describes in multiple text messages and it’s a tag she has earned herself amongst many Fox staff.
Megyn Kelly, former Fox News anchor, describes Scott as a ‘jackal’, claiming she was impossible to work with and all she did was undermine Fox staff.
Fox’s $785 defamation payout to Dominion for allegedly facilitating voter fraud in the 2020 US Federal election, the release of the J6 ‘insurrection’, footage, Ukraine and Zelenskyy, US’s proxy war against Russia, NATO’s threat to Russia’s sovereignty, the US’s sabotage of Nordstream 2, Russia China alliance, Transgenderism, and calling out corruption within the media and the establishment, became all too much for the powers at Fox along with his disdain and combative approach toward management and colleagues.
It wasn’t the narrative the ruling elite or the progressives wanted exposed, along with a dramatic souring relationship with Fox management.
Carlson’s fearlessness had its inevitability, and why he was sacked remains shrouded in controversy, but the explanation seems to lean toward a complete breakdown in the relationship, if the reports are true.
Carlson has amassed such a brand he was becoming bigger than Fox News.
Just as Carlson is popular to a hugely wide and diverse audience, he was also on the nose to blue-chip advertisers.
Advertisers mostly if not always steer away from content they perceive too controversial, leading to an exodus from the prime-time slot and shifting to other times and programs.
No one player is bigger than the team, but in the case of Carlson, he was proving that theory wrong - it’s another possible reason why the axe was mercilessly swung without notice.
Carlson to Fox is what Michael Jordan was to the Chicago Bulls and Tom Brady to the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In a recent podcast interview, Carlson reflected honestly about the role he played in what he says is the ‘Media Control Apparatus.’
He was both remorseful and regretful. “Their job is not to inform you. They’re working for the small group of people who actually run the world.”
“For too long I participated in the culture where I was like anyone who thinks outside these pre-prescribed lanes is a conspiracy theorist. I just really regret that and I’m ashamed I did that. “
Adding weight to what tipped the scales to sacking Carlson were private messages he’d sent which showed contempt toward management and colleagues in the Dominion court documents, and while many parts were redacted, Fox executives feared if they ever surfaced publicly, they it would prove embarrassing.
Its almost certain Carlson was made the fall guy for the $785m hit on Rupert’s and Fox’s bank balance.
The Dominion case was never tested in court and the role it may have played in the outcome of the 2020 election, and by settling, it ensured those documents Fox management wanted remained sealed, would never surface.
Whatever the reasons are that lead to Fox’s decision - sacking Tucker Carlson comes with a heavy price and Fox is destined to pay it.
No one will ever know the truth behind whether Dominion did play a role in the outcome of the 2020-election and it will remain a mystery just as Carlson’s sacking is, except to those in the know.
For years Carlson’s show was among the most popular in cable news television, often generating more than 3 million viewers each night.
What’s difficult to comprehend about Fox’s decision is ignoring Carlson’s overwhelming popularity with Americans and people globally.
Carlson is not only viewed as the voice of truth, but the poster boy of sanity in a growingly insane world.
Last month, he drew a record-breaking audience, averaging 3.251m viewers per show.
The figures also spiked when he aired exclusive footage of the J6 Capitol breach with so-called QAnon Sharman Jacob Chansley.
It showed Chansley being peacefully escorted by Police around and throughout the building.
Carlson’s huge appeal and trustworthiness suggests he has the eyes and ears of the world, and that frightens the left.
With fear as their motivation, they are now working in a get Carlson and Trump all costs affairs.
The left sees their grip on power possibly slipping and it’s causing them to lose their minds.
Truth, sanity, and honesty are the hallmarks of both Carlson’s popularity and fall.
Integrity owes a debt to the likes of Tucker Carlson and journalists Matt Taibbi and Michael Shellenberger.
Carlson will be back, bigger, better, stronger than ever, it’s just a matter of when, where or with whom or he could go it independently and that becomes even more fascinating.
Going independent means Carlson’s voice would be even more powerful and uncancellable.
As for Fox, what of its fate now, and has it joined the ranks of the left and has it allowed itself to become what it once opposed?
If they are undergoing a purge so they can be seen on the right side of history, then history may just not favor them. Whatever the reason, truth and integrity in reporting should be what the media strives for.
George, the Democrats aren’t leftist, they’re fascist. Jimmy Dore is a leftist and he’s had Tucker on his show and is willing to tour with him. Glenn Greenwald is another leftist who respects Tucker and has interviewed him. Both of them call out the Democrats for their corruption and hypocrisy. It is the Democrats posing as leftists who denigrate Tucker.
Great article George. Tucker has always been a favorite of mine, not because I always agree with him, but because he speaks his mind and also says when he's been wrong. He's in a better place now without the likes of the Murdochs... he can actually finally do his interview with Putin! exactly what Journos should be doing. The Dominion stuff, The QAnon Sharman Jacob Chansley (saw an interview with him) was just a patriot and not hurting anyone. Tucker produced the video showing Capitol police walking him through the White house, calmly, assisting him etc. If anyone in Australia actually believes that the US are a democratic society while entrapping and attacking their own citizens for their political allegiances, and our stupid Aussie leaders mindlessly follow the US ... they need to stop watching the propaganda of main stream media.
